FHSAA 1A Boys Basketball Semifinals: Williston and Hilliard reach FHSAA championship

Red Devils and Red Flashes will clash for the state championship on Saturday

LAKELAND, FLORIDA – Fans will be "seeing red" when they gaze upon the basketball court at the RP Funding Center during Saturday's FHSAA Class 1A Boys Basketball state championship game as the Williston Red Devils clash with the Hilliard Red Flashes.

Both squads secured their spots in the title game with semifinal victories, Friday morning at the RP Funding Center. Williston romped past Chipley, 63-30, while Hilliard dispatched Crossroad Academy, 49-36.

In the 9 a.m. game, Williston held Chipley to just nine first half points while building a 26-9 lead. The Red Devils then ramped up their offense in the third quarter, outscoring their opponent 21-12 to establish a commanding 26 point lead.

Kyler Lamb was the goto man on the offensive end for Williston, as he scored a game-high 21 points. He added 7 rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The Red Devils also received 10 points each from Reggie White and Javon Brown. Brown also had a team-high nine rebounds.

Albert McKinnie did his best to keep Chipley competitive, posting a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

The second semifinal was played a slower pace and remained in doubt well into the fourth quarter, but Hilliard did manage to lead for much of the way before prevailing by seven points.

Three Hilliard players scored in double figures, led by Malcom Warthen's 16 points. CJ Hall produced a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Brandyn Seldomridge added 10 points.

In addition, Kevin Thomas came up just short of a double-double, as he scored 9 points and cleared 10 rebounds.

Saturday's championship game between the Red Devils and Red Flashes is scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m.
