WR/DB Jaie Leighton 6-3, 175, Soph.
OL/ Samson Bumatay 6-2, 260, Soph.
THREE TO SEE
QB/LB Caleb Revey 5-11, 170, Sr.
Revey is a standout multi-sport athlete and the Blackhawks’ top returning playmaker. At quarterback, he’s elusive, can turn broken plays into big gains and is hard for defenses to bring down.
WR/DB Jaie Leighton 6-3, 175, Soph.
Great playmaker in the air and the team’s top downfield threat. Made an immediate impact and scored a lot of touchdowns last season as a freshman.
WR/DB Duncan Toby 5-11, 160, Soph.
Won the starting wide receiver job midway through his freshman season. Toby is a good route-runner, shorter gain, possession-type receiver and reliable as a defensive back in man-to-man coverage. Don’t be surprised if he has a breakout year.
OUTLOOK
Lummi, again, is reliably big and athletic. With quarterback Caleb Revey, who coach Jim Sandusky describes as a “nightmare” for opposing defenses, back under center, and the entire starting line in tact from last year, the sky's the limit for the Blackhawks. The team is hoping to avenge its quarterfinal exit to eventual state champion Odessa and on paper, Lummi has the tools to make a deeper postseason run. That will start with Revey, who headlines the five returning starters on each side of the ball. When Revey has space to scramble, “you think you’ve got him, and he can throw on the run, he keeps things alive,” Sandusky said.
