Each week, SBLive will rank the top 10 teams across the state of Idaho, regardless of classification. Here’s a look at how those teams fared in games played in Week 6 of the 2022 high school football season.
HOW THE TOP 10 FARED — OCT. 7
1. ROCKY MOUNTAIN 6-1 (5A) loses to No. 2 Meridian, 14-12
Kept in check much of the night, Grizzlies get QB Tegan Sweaney 30-yard touchdown pass to Luke Luchini on final play, but are stuffed on game-tying conversion run.
2. MERIDIAN 7-0 (5A) defeats No. 1 Rocky Mountain, 14-12
What a night for John Zamberlin and his crew! School's first win over Rocky Mountain in 11 seasons - and defense was star of show, especially on final conversion-play stuff.
3. RIGBY 5-2 (5A) loses to No. 8 Highland, 43-42
RB Sam Gamino gave defending Class 5A champions a 42-21 lead on 19-yard touchdown run with 11:55 to go. Trojans then surrendered 22 points in a row.
4. MOUNTAIN VIEW 4-3 (5A) loses to No. 7 Eagle, 28-19
PK Martin Connington was the team's standout scorer in the first half with four field goals - but missed two important kicks down the stretch in 5A SIC River loss.
5. BISHOP KELLY 7-0 (4A) defeats Emmett, 43-19
After losing to Huskies the past two season, Bishop Kelly was ready for this one. QB Hadley Smith passed for four scores, three in the first half. He ran for another one.
6. SKYLINE 5-2 (4A) defeats Blackfoot, 28-21
Oregon commit Kenyon Sadiq came through with interception that set up his own game-winning 7-yard touchdown run with six minutes remaining.
7. EAGLE (4A) 5-2 defeats No. 4 Mountain View, 28-19
If the Mustangs needed tone-setter - got one early with ATH Ian Duarte, who caught 85-yard touchdown pass on first play, and then scored on 55-yard run for 14-0 lead.
8. HIGHLAND 4-3 (5A) defeats No. 3 Rigby, 43-42
QB Drew Hymas was engine of comeback, but defense which did not stop Rigby from scoring through three quarters - it did when it counted in final two minutes.
9. SUGAR-SALEM 6-0 (3A) on bye
Diggers get week off to finish off two-week harvest period, which has kept them out of school. Next game is at home against Teton on Oct. 14.
10. MINICO 7-1 (4A) defeats Jerome, 55-0
Paced by RB Jafeth Bendele's five first-half touchdowns, Spartans post first shutout victory in the 4A Great Basin series since 2004.
