Algona Garrigan quarterback Tate Foertsch voted SBLive’s Iowa High School Athlete of the Week (11/27/2023)

The sophomore QB won in a landslide

Algona Garrigan quarterback Tate Foertsch was voted SBLive’s Iowa High School Athlete of the Week for Nov. 13-19. The sophomore picked up 88.6% of the vote. 

Foertsch passed for 109 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 82 yards and another score as the Golden Bears outscored Bedford 39-30 in the 8-player championship game. Foertsch completed 7 of 10 passes and carried 11 times for the Bears, who won their first state title since 1985. 

Foertsch finished his sophomore season with 21 touchdown passes.
