SBLive’s San Diego Section Top 10 Baseball Rankings: San Marcos new No. 1 team

San Marcos jumped into the top spot in SBLive’s CIFSDS Top 10 Baseball Rankings this week after Rancho Bernardo and Grossmont combined to drop four games last week. The Knights are followed by St. Augustine, who moved up from No. 4 to No. 2 after winning both of their league games last week.
Steele Canyon enters the mix at No. 10 after splitting their two games with Grossmont last week.

1. San Marcos (14-4-1)

The Knights beat Rancho Bernardo to take two out of three in the series and followed it up with two wins over Ramona.

The Saints beat Scripps Ranch in two competitive league games.

3. Grossmont (17-3)

The Foothillers lost to Steele Canyon in extra innings on Wednesday but redeemed themselves with a win over the Cougars on Friday.

4. Eastlake (15-5)

The Titans have won five straight and have recorded shutouts in three straight. Senior shortstop Marcelo Mayer is hitting .414 with ten home runs.

5. La Costa Canyon (15-6)

The Mavericks bounced back win an extra innings win over Sage Creek and two dominant wins over Canyon Crest.

6. Rancho Bernardo (16-5)

After starting the season 14-0, the Broncos have dropped five of their last seven including all three games last week. They'll play three more league games this week.

7. Torrey Pines (14-5)

The Falcons took two games from Sage Creek last week including Friday's matchup at Petco Park. Senior shortstop Carson Williams is hitting .500 with eight home runs.

8. Granite Hills (13-5)

The Eagles have won four straight games with excellent pitching. They've allowed two runs or less in four of those five games.

9. Santana (14-4)

Santana has won seven straight games. Junior right-handed pitcher Koda Alto is 6-0 with a 2.31 ERA.
