There’s no debate that when it comes to the sprints, Mia Brahe-Pedersen is fast.

Really, really fast.

But there might be some debate as to which of the sprints the Lake Oswego freshman is best at.

“Some people say my 100 is better, some people say my 200 is better, it just really depends,” Brahe-Pedersen said. “I’m generally more confident in the 200. It’s more of a test of strength than the 100. I’ve been working really hard to get where I am.”

There’s no debating the fact that Brahe-Pedersen is the fastest high school sprinter in the state — in both races.

After sprinting to victory in the 100-meter dash earlier in the day, Brahe-Pedersen triumphed in the 200 at the Oregon 6A Track and Field Showcase, held Saturday at Pioneer Memorial Stadium in Oregon City.

“I’ve been working really hard. The 200 is one of my favorite events, and I love running the curve,” Brahe-Pedersen said. “I do pretty good on the curve. I just like how I can utilize my long legs and long stature overall.”

Brahe-Pedersen won the 200 on Saturday in a time of 24.09 seconds.

“It was tied for my third-best time ever, which I’m pretty happy with,” Brahe-Pedersen said. “Right around now I’m just trying to stay consistent with where I am.”

Oregon City sophomore Sophia Beckmon finished in second place in a time of 24.94. West Linn junior Olivia Iverson was third at 25.19.
