Kailyn Gilbert has big night to lead IMG Academy to 68-58 win over DME Academy
BRADENTON, Fla. - Kailyn Gilbert put on a show Thursday night, pouring in 40 points to lead IMG Academy to a 68-58 victory over DME Academy in a battle of nationally ranked girls basketball teams.
Gilbert, an Arizona Wildcats commit, scored 24 points in the second half to help IMG (11-4) secure its fifth consecutive victory.
Junior forward Chloe Kitts led DME Academy (20-2) with 20 points.
Here are three takeaways from tonight’s game:
GILBERT IS A SENSATIONAL SCORER
Gilbert, a 5-foot-8 senior point guard, is a great shooter. She knocked down eight 3-pointers and finished 11-of-17 from the field.
KITTS IS A DIVISION I PROSPECT
Kitts, a 6-foot-1 junior forward, was impressive for DME Academy. She doesn’t have any reported offers yet but be on the lookout for a big summer for Kitts.
IMG ACADEMY HAS DYNAMIC BACKCOURT
Not only is Gilbert a top tier prospect for the Ascenders, but Oregon commit Grace VanSlooten is a name to keep an eye on as well. VanSlooten added 12 points in IMG's win.
