LJ McCray sets commitment date: Will nation's No. 6 prospect pick Florida?

Mainland (Florida) 5-star to commit October 21; sets final 5 of Florida, Georgia, Florida State, Miami, Auburn

The nation's No. 6 overall prospect in 2024 has set his decision date.

LJ McCray, a 5-star from Mainland (Florida), will announce his college commitment on October 21 and choose from a list of five schools.

Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia and Miami were the five schools listed, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett.

McCray is a 5-star prospect, the nation's No. 2 defensive linemen and No. 3 prospect in Florida.

There's no overwhelming favorite among recruiting insiders for the 6-foot-6, 260-pounder.

On3's recruiting prediction machine gives Florida the best chance with 37.4 percent. Rivals also predicted McCray-to-Florida.

For Mainland (6-0) this season, he's recorded 22 solo tackles — 13 for loss — and three sacks in his first five games.

As a junior, McCray recorded 47 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. He also caught 14 passes, two of them for touchdown.
