West Forsyth 7 on 7s feature plenty of teams, talent
CLEMMONS, NORTH CAROLINA--West Forsyth may have a new coach in Kevin Wallace this season, but Wallace and the Titans have continued the practice of playing host to numerous teams from the Piedmont-Triad during the summer to hone their offensive and defensive schemes during 7 on 7 scrimmages.
Programs across the state of North Carolina have continued with their workouts since mid-June and have their final dead period July 17-21. The beginning of fall sports practices is Monday, July 31 and regular season games are scheduled to kick off on August 18.
Asheboro, Central Davidson, Bishop McGuinness, Surry Central, Walkertown, Greensboro Page, Reagan, Reidsville, Eastern Guilford and West Forsyth all participated at the Titans' practice field in the final 7 on 7 scrimmage West will hold.
Reidsville, the NCHSAA 2-A state runner-up in 2022, featured its talented sophomore receiving tandem of Kendre Harrison--who has already received several major Division I scholarship offers, including Alabama and Georgia--and Dionte Neal--who was fresh off leading Team CP3 to the 15U EYBL Peach Jam Championship over the weekend.
Quarterback Al Lee will also have senior receiver Que'shyne Flippen, who led the Rams with 915 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
The Rams have won 22 state football championships and have a new coach this season in Erik Teague, who replaced his father, Jimmy, who won eight of those state titles and retired after the 2022 season.
Jimmy Teague was on hand at the 7 on 7s Wednesday and helping to coach up some of the Rams' defensive backs.
Other than Erik Teague, two other coaches at Wednesday's 7 on 7s are in their first seasons as head coaches after lengthy stints as assistants.
Jon McIntosh of Central Davidson, who was an assistant at West Forsyth since 2009 and graduated from the school in 2004, and Tim Bagamary of Eastern Guilford, a longtime assistant at several stops, including Northern Guilford, Greensboro Page and Thomasville, were both leading their teams as they continue to implement their systems and philosophies since beginning their new jobs.
