Butler (North Carolina) upsets Weddington in a Top 25 showdown

MATTHEWS, NORTH CAROLINA – Facing the No. 3 team in SBLive’s North Carolina Power 25, No. 23 Butler rallied from a 15-7 third quarter deficit to knock off visiting Weddington, 22-15, Friday night.
Keshawn Barrino scored on a 5-yard run in the final minute of play to break a 15-15 tie and lift the Bulldogs to victory.
After a scoreless first quarter, Butler broke on top, in the second quarter, with a 35-yard touchdown run by Zach Lawrence. Two minutes later, Weddington tied the game with a 10-yard TD pass from Tyler Budge to Braeden Berger. Weddington then took a 12-7 lead to the half with a safety and a field goal.
Another field goal stretched the Warriors’ lead to 15-7 in the third quarter, but Butler pulled even when Jayden Williams scored on a 3-yard run and then completed a two-point conversion pass to Zach Lawrence.
