Congratulations to St. Helens shortstop Ellie Austin for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Oregon High School Softball Player of the Week for March 28-April 3!

The junior shortstop, in addition to her usual strong defensive play, had a couple of big days at the plate for the Lions in the past week. She went 2 for 3 against South Albany and followed by going 4 for 4 and hitting for the cycle, against Valley Catholic.

“She is one of the most humble players I have coached,” St. Helens coach Miranda Little said.

Austin received 27.15% of the total vote, beating out Cascade's Hannah Walliman who finished second with 19.4%. Gladstone's Delaney McNett finished third with 17.02% and Wilsonville's Neina-Leilani Santer finished fourth with 16.41%. There were over 38,000 votes tallied this week!

Here are the other athletes who were nominated for the week of March 28-April 3:

Hannah Brink, Jesuit

The senior catcher/outfielder went 3 for 3 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs, helping the Crusaders earn a 14-2 nonleague victory at West Linn.

Payton Burnham, Sheldon

The sophomore went 2 for 3 with a solo home run, helping the Irish record a 12-3 nonleague win at Crater. Burnham also picked up the pitching win, giving up one run on three hits while striking out nine in four innings.

Ava Carroll, Canby

The junior center fielder and leadoff hitter helped the Cougars go 3-1 against tough competition during the week. In those four games, Carroll went 12 for 17 at the plate, with six singles, a double, four triples, a home run, eight runs and six RBIs.

Ashtyn Clark, Mountain View

The sophomore pitcher/first baseman has stepped up in a big way early in the season for the Cougars. Clark, who was voted a team captain by her teammates, is averaging 10 strikeouts per game as a pitcher, while also providing a potent left-handed bat at the plate.

“She is teachable, humble and loves the game,” Mountain View coach Sarah Stacy said.

Abigail Blanchard, Beaverton

The sophomore had a big game at the plate for the Beavers, going 3 for 4 with a double, two runs and four RBIs in the team’s 15-3 nonleague home win over McDaniel.

Karley Bloxam, Pleasant Hill

The sophomore pitcher had a huge game for the Billies in their 15-0 nonleague victory at Siuslaw. Bloxam threw four shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out eight. At the plate, she went 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs.

Caelyn Davis, Mazama

The freshman pitcher/first baseman threw a five-inning shutout, giving up four hits while striking out seven and walking two, helping the Vikings notch a 10-0 victory over North Bend. Davis also hit a double and scored a run in the win.

Paige Doerr, Marist Catholic

The junior blasted a go-ahead, fifth-inning grand slam, helping the Spartans earn a 7-2 win over Churchill in a nonleague game played at Marist Catholic. Doerr doubled, tripled and scored three runs in a 12-1 win at Churchill earlier in the week.

Sara Ellerton, Sherwood

The senior catcher, and team captain, hit for a .600 average for the Bowmen during the week, with three singles, a double, two triples, five runs and five RBIs. Ellerton also is a defensive leader behind the plate for Sherwood.

Mya Fauver, Oakland

The junior went 5 for 6 with three doubles, four runs and seven RBIs to help the Oakers notch a wild 29-21 home win over Glendale in the second game of a Central Valley Conference doubleheader.

Cori Galvin, Philomath

The junior went 3 for 4 with a stolen base, three runs and three RBIs, helping the Warriors post a 15-0 nonleague victory at Woodburn.

Addilyn Gates, Sunset

The sophomore doubled, tripled and drove in four runs, helping the Apollos record an 11-1 nonleague win over Clackamas in game played at Sunset High School. Gates also scored a run and had a sacrifice bunt in the victory.

Mack Gerlach, Summit

The junior went 5 for 5 with two doubles, two runs and two RBIs for the Storm in an 11-9 loss to Grant in a nonleague game played at Summit High School.

Libbey Hardee, McMinnville

The junior blasted two home runs while going 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs for the Grizzlies in their 12-4 nonleague victory at Sheldon.

Britney Henderson, Barlow

The sophomore pitcher struck out 15 batters, while giving up just three hits, in a 1-0 loss to Tigard in a nonleague game played at Tigard High School.

Amy Jankowski, Churchill

The senior delivered a tying two-run single in the top of the sixth inning and recorded 12 strikeouts in the circle, helping the Lancers earn a 7-6 win at North Eugene. Jankowski went 2 for 3 at the plate with a run and a stolen base.

Jordan Knutson, South Medford

The freshman threw a six-inning shutout, giving up just one hit while striking out 14 and walking none, helping the Panthers roll to an 11-0 nonleague win over Mazama. Knutson also had a hit and drove in a run in the victory.

Nicole Ledendecker, South Medford

The sophomore outfielder went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a run and four RBIs, helping the Panthers post an 11-0 nonleague victory over Mazama.

Delaney McNett, Gladstone

The junior went 2 for 3 with two doubles, two stolen bases, two runs and three RBIs for the Gladiators in a 9-8 loss to Newport in a nonleague game at Newport High School.

Kaydence Norton, South Umpqua

The sophomore blasted a home run while going 2 for 5 with four RBIs as she helped the Lancers post a 14-10 nonleague victory at Pleasant Hill.

Allison Parker, Bend

The junior pitcher/infielder had a big day pitching and at the plate for the unbeaten Lava Bears in a 10-1 home win over Crook County. Parker pitched two no-hit innings, striking out five. She also belted a three-run home run in the first inning.

Jordan Pena, Sunset

The speedy freshman walked three times, stole five bases and scored two runs for the Apollos in their 11-1 win over Clackamas in a nonleague game played at Sunset High School.

Violet Richardson, South Umpqua

The junior went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, two walks, three runs and two RBIs for the Lancers in their 14-10 nonleague win at Pleasant Hill.

Kailey Rugani, Summit

The senior went a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate, with three runs, four RBIs and a stolen base for the Storm in their 19-13 nonleague home win over South Eugene.

Neina-Leilani Santer, Wilsonville

The senior utility/designated player had a big week at the plate, going 4 for 7 against Oregon City and McMinnville. She hit a home run against Oregon City to help spark the Wildcats to a 5-3 victory.

Taylor Schaffner, Newport

The junior went 3 for 3 with a triple, two stolen bases, two walks, two runs and an RBI, helping the Cubs get a 9-8 home win over Gladstone in a nonleague contest.

Camille Schmitz, Tualatin

In the Timberwolves’ first six games of the season, all wins, the senior pitcher gave up a total of three runs. Schmitz had 20 strikeouts in a 1-0 nine-inning victory at Dallas. 

Mackenzie Scott, South Salem

The junior catcher helped propel the Saxons to a couple of wins in the past week. In a 10-3 victory over Southridge, Scott had a double, three runs, an RBI and a stolen base. She also threw out a runner on a stolen-base attempt. In a 6-1 win over Franklin, Scott had a double, was twice hit by pitches, scored two runs and stole three bases. 

Avia Tuguldur, South Eugene

The sophomore blasted a home run while going 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs for the Axe in their 19-13 nonleague road loss to Summit.

Hannah Walliman, Cascade

The senior, with her pitching and hitting, helped the Cougars notch a 5-2 win at Philomath in an Oregon West Conference game. Walliman turned in a complete-game pitching performance, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out 10. She went 2 for 3 at the plate. 

Maddie Wilkin, Astoria

The freshman threw a no-hitter, striking out 13 batters, helping the Fishermen notch a 10-0 five-inning win over North Marion in a nonleague game at Astoria.
