Miles Lockhart, coveted 4-star cornerback, commits to Ohio State Buckeyes

Basha (Arizona) four-star cornerback Miles Lockhart locks in his commitment

The state of Arizona is the epicenter of college football recruiting Thursday, as two big names are coming off the board.

Salpointe Catholic five-star edge-rusher Elijah Rushing and Basha four-star cornerback Miles Lockhart both set Thursday commitment dates, forcing all eyes of the fast-rising, talent-rich state.

Turns out, Lockhart was the first to make a move, announcing his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defensive back is rated the nation's No. 22 cornerback and the No. 2 player in the state of Arizona, behind only Rushing.

During the recruiting process, Lockhart picked up more than 20 scholarship offers, highlighted by Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa, Oregon, Texas A&M, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and others.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Lockhart as a prospect:

"Stout, solidly built frame. Limited physical upside. Really smart cornerback with off-the-charts instincts. Flashes very good ball skills and toughness in one-on-one coverage. Displays sound tackling ability to clean up on the perimeter. Looks at home near the line of scrimmage. Superb two-way production and dangerous with the ball in his hands. Versatile defender who could fill variety of roles within a secondary. Equally comfortable in man and zone. Could continue to improve straight-line speed. Potential multi-year starter at elite Power Five level."

With Lockhart in the fold, Ohio State has a dynamic duo at the cornerback position in the class of 2024.

He joins Glenville (Ohio) star Bryce West, the nation's No. 4 cornerback, to give the Buckeyes a formidable pairing for the future.
