Tucker Hendrix, Christ Church, Football
Hendrix had a near perfect day by going 9-of-11 for 242 yards and 5 touchdowns as the Cavaliers overwhelmed Johnsonville 67-21 to win their second straight 1-A state championship.
Aiden Manavian, Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Football
Manavian, a freshman, was pressed into duty when the Landsharks’ starting quarterback suffered a season-ending injury in the first round of the state playoffs. It sure worked out well for Oceanside. Manavian threw for 367 yards and 2 touchdowns as Oceanside beat Gray Collegiate Academy 35-21c for the 2-A state championship.
Tytrell Smith, Gilbert, Boys Basketball
Smith scored 25 points in the Indians’ 57-44 win over Ridge Spring-Monetta.
Emerie Davis, Carolina Forest, Girls Basketball
The 5-foot-9 sophomore scored 24 points as the Panthers beat North Myrtle Beach 51-31.
Jackson Repp, Christ Church, Football
Repp had a huge state championship with touchdowns three different ways – reception, punt return and rushing. His punt return was for 60 yards, the TD catch covered 64 yards and the rushing TD was 11 yards. Repp had 5 catches for 104 yards.
Jon Hunt, Dutch Fork, Football
The senior quarterback ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw for 135 yards as the Silver Foxes downed previously unbeaten White Knoll 21-6 to win the 5-A state championship.
Stephen Nichols, Ben Lippen, Boys Basketball
Nichols scored 25 points in a 64-47 win over Northside Christian.
Cutter Woods, Westside, Football
Woods directed a game-winning 78-yard drive culminating on a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jimmar “Tank” Boston with 15 seconds left as the Rams beat South Florence 34-32 for the 4-A state championship. The junior quarterback finished with two touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown.
Ghaleb Wilson, Andrew Jackson, Boys Basketball
Wilson erupted for 36 points in Andrew Jackson’s 62-38 win over Great Falls.
Justin Ray, Eastside, Boys Basketball
Ray had a superb all-around game with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block as Eastside downed Hillcrest 74-62.
