The Notre Dame Fighting Irish haven't skipped a beat on the recruiting trail under new head coach Marcus Freeman.

While it remains early in the 2023 recruiting cycle, Notre Dame is pushing for nation's the No. 1 class - and added to its impressive haul Tuesday.

247Sports four-star wide receiver and Under Armour All-American selection Braylon James announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish over fellow finalists Stanford and TCU, as well as offers from Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound pass-catcher, out of Stony Point High School (Round Rock, Texas), is rated the nation's No. 72 overall prospect and No. 12 wide receiver.

For James, the turning point in his recruitment proved to be a March visit to Notre Dame that left a permanent impression.

"It's a great place," he told Sports Illustrated. "Full of great people and individuals who value you being successful on the field just as much as they do off of it and that’s something that you don’t really get a real depiction of on visits, especially unofficials.”

James is the ninth commitment in Notre Dame's 2023 recruiting class and the second player from Texas, joining Guyer four-star safety Peyton Bowen.

The headliners of Freeman's class are Berkeley Prep (Florida) five-star edge-rusher Keon Keeley and Indiana four-star linebacker Drayk Bowen.
