The Washington Wizards only have 15 wins on the year, tied for the worst record in the NBA. Though, on those 15 wins, two of them have came against the Denver Nuggets. Washington swept the Western Conference contenders on Friday behind key games from its youngsters to display just how bright the future is for the Wizards.

Washington has lacked direction and hope for a few seasons, but with a new front office at the helm the Wizards have that hope thanks to the retooled roster –– which largely stims from the 2024 NBA Draft.

While many teams turned their nose up at the weak class, the Wizards went out and found value and leans on those youngsters in a season that was always going to be designed to capture the top pick instead of a championship.

The Wizards added Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington to Bilal Coulibaly to form a strong foundation to build from and get out of this rebuild state.

Against the Nuggets, it was the young players who shined. Sarr, the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, posted 34 points, six rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal in 32 minutes which includes 5-for-9 from 3-point land.

Behind that effort, George chipped in 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists, a block and a trio of steals –– including the go-ahead shot down the stretch which eventually led to Jordan Poole hitting the game winner to ice the contest.

Washington won 126-123 in Denver and it was a game where it was easy to see the vision for this Wizards core.
