Why the 49ers Could Still be Dabbling in the Trade Market

In this story:
Acquiring pass rusher Randy Gregory from the Denver Broncos was an easy move to make for the San Francisco 49ers.
They get a player who has the potential to be a key impact player on the defensive line for practically nothing. You can never have enough pass rushers in this league. The likelihood of the 49ers getting the best out of Gregory is in their favor. Defensive line coach Kris Kocurek is a magician who has a knack for that.
So long as health is not an issue, Gregory will look like a solid acquisition for the 49ers. Trading for Gregory makes it another consecutive season that the 49ers have made to boost their ranks. Usually they are good for just one, but I am not too sure that they are done yet.
The 49ers could still very well be dabbling in the trade market to acquire more players.
For starters, there is plenty of time left before the Oct. 31 trade deadline. The 49ers can ponder what areas could use a boost or simply wait for more teams to put up players on the trade block. It's all in their favor at this point. Not to mention that the 49ers have ample salary cap space to take on a premier player should one become available. Everything is on the table for the 49ers. They're sure to keep their head on a swivel if a player makes sense for them just like with Gregory.
2023 is Super Bowl or bust for the 49ers. If there is a deal to make that can elevate them in any facet, then they will not hesitate to make it. Now, acquiring Gregory was an insanely "buy low" move for them, especially with the Broncos eating most of his 2023 salary. But that does not mean the 49ers wouldn't pay a premium in draft picks and salary cap space if it means they could receive help from an adequate player. They did that last year when they acquired Christian McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers.
The Broncos are reportedly fielding trade offers for receiver Jerry Jeudy now. Other teams are bound to join them soon. I would suspect the Panthers will be sellers as well. The 49ers are not done with dabbling in the trade market. Who that player will be is to be determined, but one thing is for sure is the 49ers will be keeping tabs on teams looking to sell.
