Browns DE Myles Garrett Disrespected in Player Rankings

The player rankings released by the NFL don’t give an accurate representation of Myles Garrett’s game.

The NFL is in the process of releasing the top 100 players across the league voted on by the players. Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett showed on the list today a bit lower than you would think.

Garrett was ranked No. 19 with some questionable players ahead of him. Perhaps having 44 sacks in the past three seasons isn’t a good enough illustration of who Garrett is.

The following players were ranked ahead of Garrett:

  • 49ers TE George Kittle
  • Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick
  • Raiders DE Maxx Crosby
  • Bills WR Stefon Diggs
  • 49ers LB Fred Warner
  • 49ers OT Trent Williams
  • Raiders WR Davante Adams
  • Raiders RB Josh Jacobs
  • Rams DL Aaron Donald

A few of these players are deserving and the best at their position across the league, or close to it. Maxx Crosby being ranked higher than Garrett is comedy, and Josh Jacobs being where he is, comes off as even worse. If you put Garrett in front of a general manager with those two players, I’d guess that 95 percent of them would take Garrett.

Of course, this is voted on by players, so it can be a bit biased depending on the situation. But Garrett has dominated his opposition since his second year in the league, also was pretty good as a rookie.

Only T.J. Watt has more sacks since 2018 (70.5) than Garrett (67.5).

It’s a rough-looking ranking when it has Garrett at No. 20, considering there aren’t 19 players in the NFL better than him.

At the end of the day, these rankings don’t matter. Maybe it’s a little bit of motivation to some players, but it’s really to just create conversation. That’s exactly what putting Garrett at No. 20 does.
