Former Browns Linebacker Could be Potential add for Panthers
Carolina Panthers are bringing in a former Cleveland Browns linebacker for a visit. Deion Jones is set to work out for the Panthers today following their practice, per Ian Rapoport.
Jones spent last season with the Browns for the majority of the way after being traded over for a late-round pick from the Atlanta Falcons. After being second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jones spent six seasons with the Falcons. During that time, Jones made one Pro Bowl in 2017.
Last season with the Browns, Jones started five games and played in 11 total. After Cleveland was hit by a rash of injuries at the linebacker position, Jones gave them accountable play for the most part. He totaled 44 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception, and a fumble each.
Jones is a suitable depth linebacker in the NFL still at 28 years old, despite some of the injuries he has dealt with. Time will tell if the workout leads to a deal in Carolina.
