Alabama Basketball's Kris Parker Enters Transfer Portal

Parker did not see action for Alabama this past season, redshirting to retain a year of eligibility.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The college basketball season has ended for Alabama, which means the next few months will be transfer portal season as the 2024-25 roster gets finalized.

On Wednesday afternoon, Alabama freshman Kris Parker entered the transfer portal, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton.

Parker was a 4-star recruit for Alabama in the 2023 recruiting class, but he was the only member of his freshman class and only member of the Alabama team to not see action this past season, redshirting to retain a year of eligibility.

Parker has unique size for his position, measuring in at 6-foot-9 but being listed as a guard. He was spoken of as a solid defender by Alabama head coach Nate Oats, who also spoke highly of his progress as a player during his redshirt process.

“[Parker]'s gotten a lot better,” Oats said back in February. “He’s a much better defender, he’s using his athleticism. He's becoming a better shooter. That’s the one area that he's really got to work hard on in the offseason, but he has become better. He's just getting better every day in practice, and he's a great kid.”

Even with Parker's departure, Alabama is still one player over the scholarship limit of 13 players due to the Crimson Tide's incoming recruiting and transfer portal class. It is expected that there will be more departures from the current roster by way of either the transfer portal or the NBA Draft.

Because of his redshirt, Parker will have all four years of eligibility remaining wherever he lands.
