Alabama OL Kendall Randolph Sprains Ankle

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama football redshirt-senior offensive lineman Kendall Randolph sprained his ankle during Saturday's scrimmage, head coach Nick Saban revealed.
"He sprained his ankle today so he didn't get to finish the scrimmage," Saban said during his post-scrimmage press conference. "We hope that it's not anything significant but he's really a key to the development of this offensive line because of his experience."
Randolph has seen action at right tackle during fall camp and is currently a favorite to start at the position this season.
During the 2020 season, Randolph started six games at tight end while serving as Alex Leatherwood's backup at left tackle. A versatile athlete, Randolph saw action in 2020 at both the tight end and offensive tackle positions.
With Leatherwood, center Landon Dickerson and guard Deonte Brown all departing the Crimson Tide for the NFL, Randolph has been primarily focused on playing on the offensive line this season. So far in fall camp, Randolph has been playing at right tackle and seems to be making a lot of progress.
In addition to revealing Randolph's injury, Saban remarked on his versatility and what he brings to the table for Alabama.
"Kendall's done a really good job," Saban said. "He's a jack-of-all-trades. He can play every position — guard, tackle, he's played tight end for us before — he's worked at all those positions in camp. He can play right tackle, he can play left tackle."
"He's got a lot of maturity about him. He's very experienced — knowledgable player."
The severity of Randolph's ankle injury is unknown at this time. Monday marks the next scheduled practice for the Crimson Tide, as the team will take Sunday off. There is a media viewing period currently scheduled for Monday's practice, where the presence or absence of Randolph will likely indicate the injury's severity.
