Live Updates: No. 12 Alabama Soccer at Southern Miss

Even though the No. 12 Alabama soccer team (4-0-2) still has its unbeaten record, it has been a bit of tough sledding as of late when it comes to scoring goals.
The Crimson Tide has not found the back of the net for two consecutive matches, against Miami and Samford. It's caused a slide in the rankings from a peak at No. 5. On Thursday, Alabama will have a shot at an opponent it defeated in shutout fashion last season.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles (2-3) have not fared as well against SEC foes as Samford has. The Golden Eagles are 0-3 against the conference and have lost by a combined margin of 10-1.
It's an unusually slow stretch for Alabama, which is frustrated at its lack of offensive production despite recent struggles not going into the books as losses. This was a team that last season led the country in goals, which head coach Wes Hart noted following last Sunday's tilt against Samford. Things are, however, going well on the defensive side. The Crimson Tide's goalkeeping platoon, tasked with replacing a program great, is solid and getting stronger each week. The back line remains a strength, as does the midfield. There's talent on the offensive side, plenty of it, and sometimes all it takes is one good day at the office to put it all together.
Thursday's match in Hattiesburg, Miss., presents that opportunity for Alabama, which seeks its first win since Aug. 27.
