The Alabama soccer team has begun the 2023 season with its first 2-0 start of the decade, but the Crimson Tide passed a test in its last match that might have been more difficult than originally expected. A win is a win, and above all, Alabama secured the result. However, the second consecutive road match on the Crimson Tide's slate promises to be another challenge.

Alabama takes on Lipscomb, which won 11 matches last season. This fall has brought with it a tough start for the Bisons. Lipscomb has yet to record a goal in regular season action despite drawing with Memphis, which happens to be Alabama's next opponent after Thursday, in an exhibition.

A major key to this match for the Crimson Tide is whether star midfielder Felicia Knox returns from a leg injury sustained in the season opener on Aug. 17. The Alabama midfield is battling injury woes at present. Veteran holding midfielder Macy Clem has still not seen the pitch in 2023, and Knox, one of the best players in the SEC, joins her as one of the veteran leaders of this season's team. Not having those players on the field hurts the Crimson Tide, though head coach Wes Hart said he was pleased with the response from the rest of the team after last Sunday's 1-0 triumph over UAB in Birmingham, Ala.
