TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— The regular season is here at last.

The No. 7 Alabama soccer team, after a historic run through the 2022 slate, is finally back to the action at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. The first team to try and wrest the Crimson Tide's 20-match home unbeaten streak from its grip is the DePaul Blue Demons. After a down season last fall, the visitors from Chicago seek an early statement against a highly ranked foe.

For the Crimson Tide, the match is the first official action since the program's College Cup semifinals appearance in December 2022. That run has garnered attention throughout the offseason— Alabama was unranked at the beginning of last season— but now the hype gives way to the action.

Alabama won its season opener in 2022, a rain-delayed encounter with Florida Atlantic which was actually played over the course of two different days. DePaul lost its opener last season. The Crimson Tide drew last week in an exhibition with Tennessee, also in Tuscaloosa, in a matchup that was Alabama's return to 11-on-11 competition for the first time this year.
