Live Updates: No. 7 Alabama Soccer at UAB

The first step on the journey for the Alabama soccer team was a pleasant one, but now that the regular season is in full swing, there's little time for the Crimson Tide to revel in its season-opening shutout win over DePaul.
For the UAB Blazers, Sunday evening's match is an early chance to welcome an opponent from a power conference to home field. For the Crimson Tide, the first road test of the season comes after a very short trip to Birmingham, Ala.
UAB was close on multiple occasions to notching a 10th win in a solid nine-win 2022 campaign. More importantly, however, the Blazers lost just once when defending PNC Field to an excellent Memphis team that made noise in the postseason. These are two teams which defend their own at a high level.
The last time these squads met was during the 2021 season, where Alabama won 2-0 at the Alabama Soccer Stadium. Defender Tanna Sanchez-Carreto, who returned this season following an injury-necessitated hiatus last fall, scored the winning goal.
The Blazers are going for the first win of the young season, having dropped a 2-0 result to Georgia Southern in Birmingham on Aug. 17. Alabama has not lost a true road game in almost a full year. The Miami Hurricanes were the only team to hand the Crimson Tide a loss last regular season on Aug. 21, 2022.
