Alabama Baseball Moves Up in D1Baseball Rankings for Fifth Consecutive Week

The Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team saw another week of movement in the polls after splitting last week’s slate of games.

The Crimson Tide lost to Southern Miss 9-7 in its midweek matchup and 11-3 to Tennessee on Friday, but won Games 2 and 3, 6-3 on Saturday and 7-6 on Sunday, to take its first SEC series of the year.

With the series win, Alabama jumped three spots from No. 14 to No. 11 in the newest D1Baseball Rankings, the biggest jump so far this year for the Crimson Tide. As for the Volunteers, they fell three spots to No. 8.

Teams that dropped out this week include NC State (12-6), South Carolina (15-5), Texas (11-8), and Texas Tech (14-6).

According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, Southern Miss, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Nebraska, Miami, and Georgia Tech were all considered for the Week 5 rankings. 

This week, the Crimson Tide will start a five-game road trip starting with playing Alabama State in Montgomery, Ala., on Tuesday. Then, the team will travel to Athens, Ga., for a three-game series against the Georgia Bulldogs. Finally, it caps off the trip with a game against Belmont in Huntsville, Ala., on March 26 before returning to Tuscaloosa to play a three-game series against South Carolina from March 28-30.
