TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— The Alabama baseball team's weekend sweep of the Valparaiso Beacons reflected in D1Baseball's top 25 rankings, where the Crimson Tide moved up one spot to No. 16.

All three games over the past weekend ended in run-rule fashion. Alabama scored run totals of 14, 13 and 11. All eight of the team's games so far have been within home confines at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The other opponents the Crimson Tide have defeated in 2024 are Manhattan College, Middle Tennessee and Alabama State.

Alabama's record remains unbeaten at 8-0. The first road contest of the season is Tuesday at Regions Field against UAB.

The Southeastern Conference, always a regular fixture at the top of college baseball, boasts six teams in the top 10 alone. Three are in the top five: Arkansas, LSU and Florida. Alabama is the next-highest ranked SEC team outside the top 10. Behind the Crimson Tide are South Carolina (19) and newcomer Auburn (23).

When the season began, the Crimson Tide was slotted at 19, inside the top 20 despite a new-look lineup and a largely new coaching staff. Nonconference success is not new for the program, but the dominant nature of a number of these wins has turned heads. The pitching has been strong, including the bullpen, despite early injury issues in the weekend rotation.

The ambitions of this Alabama team are not a secret. Tuscaloosa has not sent a team to Omaha to play in the College World Series in the 21st century. This particular group aims to put an end to that streak.
