Live Updates: Alabama Baseball vs. Kentucky (SEC Tournament)

HOOVER, Ala. — The wait is over.
Ninth-seeded Alabama baseball is set to play against No. 8 seed Kentucky in Tuesday's opening round of the 2023 SEC Baseball Tournament.
It's do-or-die time for the Crimson Tide (38-17, 16-14 SEC) — which is looking to host a regional for the first time since 2006 next weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Tuesday's round is single-elimination. After Tuesday, the bracket moves to double-elimination. With a win over the Wildcats (36-17, 16-14 SEC), Alabama is probably hosting — with a loss, it may not be.
Interim head coach Jason Jackson is 8-2 as the Crimson Tide's head coach — showing that he is certainly going to be in the running to be the program's next full-time leader.
He's not worried about that.
"I don't look at it like that," Jackson said Monday. "We're focused on just trying to do a good job of playing here in Hoover and playing well tomorrow against Kentucky."
The Wildcats won two out of three close games against Alabama at Sewell-Thomas Stadium March 24-26.
That was a much different time in the season. Over the past two weekends, the Crimson Tide went 5-1 — including five wins in a row. Kentucky went 2-4 in its last two series of the regular season.
LHP Hunter Furtado (0-1, 5.40 ERA) will be on the mound to start for Alabama — the Wildcats are matching that with RHP Darren Williams (4-1, 3.96 ERA).
First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.
