BamaCentral Courtside: No. 22 Alabama 98, Mercer 67

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— On a night where No. 22 Alabama basketball's 100+ point streak came to the end, the Crimson Tide still managed to impress offensively.
In their 98-67 defeat of Mercer, Alabama was ruthlessly efficient — shooting 59% from the field and 42% from three-point range.
It was a big game for point guard Mark Sears, who finished with 24 points on 8-for-12 shooting — dishing out six assists in the process.
"He's gotten a lot better at making reads," Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats said postgame. "Six assists, only one turnover tonight - between him and Aaron [Estrada], that's 10 assists and only one turnover so I thought those guys did a good job making reads."
Following Sears in the scoring department was forward Nick Pringle, who tallied 14 points on 7-for-8 shooting while grabbing six rebounds.
For Oats and company, the defense was stout, too — holding the Bears to a mere 39% (25-for-63) shooting output from the field.
As Alabama blitzed through their early non-conference schedule with ease, they'll be tasked with getting through their first big test of the season — with a matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes coming on Nov. 24 at the Emerald Coast Classic in Niceville, Fla.
