TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama basketball is in a very good spot coming of its bye week, currently sitting alone atop the SEC standings with a 9-2 record in conference, and a 17-7 record overall.

The Crimson Tide is highly ranked in the AP Poll, sitting at No. 15, and even higher in the computer metrics, coming in at No. 7 in KenPom and No. 5 in the NET.

But where does Alabama stand in terms of NCAA Tournament seeding?

Joe Lunardi, the lead bracketologist for ESPN and probably the most popular bracketologist out there, has Alabama all the way up to the final 2-seed, or the No. 8 overall seed, as of yesterday.

According to bracketmatrix.com, a website that takes the majority of online projected brackets and averages each team's seed, Alabama averages as a 3-seed.

Below is a list of some of the most popular online bracketologists and where they have Alabama seeded:

  • Joe Lunardi (ESPN) - 2 seed
  • Jerry Palm (CBS) - 3 seed
  • Kevin Sweeney (SI) - 3 seed
  • Andy Katz (NCAA) - 3 seed

Of the 106 bracketologists listed on Bracket Matrix, eight of them have Alabama as a 2-seed, the highest seeding the Crimson Tide has been listed at so far. Just one bracket has the Crimson Tide as an 5-seed.

That leaves the remaining 97 brackets that have Alabama as either a 4-seed or a 3-seed.

Under Nate Oats, Alabama has never been lower than a 6-seed, which came in 2022. In 2021, Alabama was a 2-seed, and last season the Crimson Tide received the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament.

The Crimson Tide has seven regular season games remaining as well as the SEC Tournament as opportunities to improve its seeding as the Big Dance inches closer by the day.
