Alabama Football Officially Fills Coaching Staff, Announcing Three Assistant Coach Hirings

The entire first-year staff for head coach Kalen DeBoer is now set ahead of spring practice.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After an offseason full of shuffling, the Alabama football coaching staff for the 2024 season is complete, after UA announced the hirings of tight ends coach Bryan Ellis, offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic and outside linebackers coach Christian Robinson.

“We were able to also secure three of the finest coaches in the nation to finish out our staff with the hiring of Bryan Ellis, Chris Kapilovic and Christian Robinson,” Alabama head football coach Kalen DeBoer said. “Chris is one of the most respected offensive line coaches in the game with a reputation for recruiting and developing his players. Christian does an outstanding job of building relationships on both the recruiting trail and in his position room, where he gets the absolute best of his players. Ellis is one of the best offensive minds in college football and is a perfect fit for our staff.”

Bryan Ellis previously served as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern, but has also spent time at Western Kentucky and USC. Ellis was hired as the tight ends coach to replace Nick Sheridan, who was promoted to offensive coordinator after Ryan Grubb left for the same position at the Seattle Seahawks.

Chris Kapilovic and Christian Robinson both came from Baylor. Kapilovic was hired by the Bears in December but spent the previous four seasons at Michigan State.

Robinson has spent time in the SEC, coaching at Auburn in 2022 while also having served as a graduate assistant at Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Georgia.

Kapilovic fills the void left by Scott Huff, who followed Grubb to the Seahawks. Robison was hired to replace William Inge, who was hired away by Tennessee.
