NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Whether Alabama has a reigning Heisman winner at quarterback or massive uncertainty at the position, the expectations are always high for the Crimson Tide because of the success the program has had under Nick Saban.

And that is no different as Alabama heads into the 2023 season with the unofficial kickoff to football season Wednesday at SEC Media Days in Nashville, Tennessee.

It's a time of year where expectations are set, literally, when the media makes preseason predictions for where teams will finish and who will make the all-conference teams. But for the legendary head coach, he's not worried about anyone else's expectations.

"We want to stay focused on the process of what we need to do to play winning football at every position," Saban said. "And I'm not here to create expectations for our team. Lots of people will do that. But expectations in some way are a premeditated way to create disappointment."

Saban is pleased with the mindset of his team this offseason, calling them "hungry" and "motivated."

The player representatives for the Crimson Tide were linebacker Dallas Turner, defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry and offensive tackle JC Latham. All three players talked about getting back to the Alabama standard.
