Auburn Briefing: Some Saturday morning thoughts on the latest chatter
Auburn fans went through a few things on Friday.
After parting ways with offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery, the general thought from both players and those outside the program was that it meant that Hugh Freeze would be the primary playcaller for Auburn in 2024.
If that's the case, that could mean huge things for Auburn's offense. We saw a much more productive offense and a more comfortable Payton Thorne when Freeze had the playsheet over his mouth calling plays. I don't think Montgomery is a bad coach. We all saw his successful resume when he was hired by Freeze a year ago. It just didn't work at Auburn. Props to Freeze for seeing that early and moving on after just a season.
Keionte Scott
There started being rumblings of Scott being interested in the idea of entering the transfer portal earlier in the week. Honestly, I didn't think he would leave. The message of his return was passionate and well done but he ultimately chose to leave.
Makes you have to ask the question: Did something change?
