Auburn OC Philip Montgomery heaps praise on WR Caleb Burton

Auburn was sure it was getting a long-term piece when they signed Ohio State transfer WR Caleb Burton this summer.

The former top-75 overall prospect was heralded for his fluidity, consistency, and elite body control coming out of high school.

He's arrived on the Plains and throughout the summer has impressed Auburn offensive coordinator Philip Montgomery with an aspect of his game that explains why Burton is such a polished player now and as a prospect.

According to Montgomery, Burton's work ethic has really set him apart and proven to be a clear strength of his game.

"I think for him its just the understanding of the game," Auburn OC Philip Montgomery said to the media during a Monday press conference. "He's one of the hardest working dudes this summer... It's everyday, and it's like 'alright, it's time to leave the building, get some rest, go get something to eat."

It may take a bit of time for Burton to get acclimated to the offense, but with his current approach to the game, he should be able to pick things up in no time.

Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma - three schools that have produced incredible receiver talent over the last decade plus - were among his offers coming out of high school.

"I think he does have the ability to go inside-out," Montgomery continued. "Really fluid, natural route-runner. He's got really smooth hands. It's just about him picking up the offense, and he was in the film room all summer."

Although Auburn has a plethora of bodies in the receiver room that are competing for starting spots over Burton currently, there is reason to believe that he will be able to get his a little bit earlier than some might have anticipated when he committed.
