KenPom Ranks UC No. 51 Nationally

The Bearcats made a significant jump from the end of last season.

CINCINNATI — KenPom released its initial 2022-23 ratings, and Cincinnati sits at No. 51. They are the third-highest ranked team in the AAC, behind Memphis (No. 34) and Houston (No. 7).

The ranking marks a significant jump from last season when the Bearcats finished with eight losses in the final 10 games. KenPom had Uc slotted 101st nationally to close the campaign.

Things are trending up for the Bearcats, who added impact transfers in Landers Nolley II, Kalu Ezikpe, and Rob Phinisee this offseason.

Those three, along with entrenched pieces like David Dejulius and Jeremiah Davenport, should have UC in the mix to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.

The non-conference slate awaits them to open the season. I have an in-depth season prediction coming next week, but there are plenty of winnable games before AAC play.

Anything less than 9-4 to open the season would be a major disappointment, with just one true road game (NKU) across that stretch.
