Pinging The Portal: UC Contacts Eastern Illinois Forward Barlow Alleruzzo IV

CINCINNATI — Wes Miller and the Bearcats have added a guard and a forward in the transfer portal, but they aren't stopping there. Cincinnati is also courting West Virginia's Sean McNeil and Detroit Mercy's Antoine Davis, plus they just reached out to another big man.
According to The Portal Report, UC contacted Eastern Illinois forward Barlow Alleruzzo IV. The 6-foot-9 forward won't wow anyone with his stats during his two seasons in the Ohio Valley Conference (two points, 3.3 rebounds). He dealt with a back injury all of this past year, causing him to redshirt.
“I’m 100% and better than ever," He told the Portal Report. "With these two years of eligibility I’m going to come to a program and be ready to work, lead and win with a great culture! I have a 3.4 G.P.A and will be graduating in May. I’m a 6’9 225 pound forward who can play and guard multiple positions.”
Alleruzzo had the back issue last year, but he didn't do much when healthy in 2020-21. He averaged 16.4 minutes, 3.4 points, and 2.5 rebounds in 23 games for the Panthers that season.
In 377 total 2020-21 minutes he posted a rough 93.9 offensive rating and 110.5 defensive rating. For context, Jarrett Hensley posted a 93.6 offensive rating last year (fourth-worst on the team), and no Bearcat on the roster had a defensive rating worse than 103.1.
Alleruzzo has also heard from Grambling State, SIUE, Belmont, Sam Houston State, Oakland, Austin Peay, UTEP, Omaha, and Emporia State.
