Look: First-Year Talent Index Shows Positive and Negative Signs For Cincinnati's Rebuild

The Bearcats fell short this season, but Scott Satterfield did a nice job building up Louisville's initial talent for Jeff Brohm.

CINCINNATI — It's been a brutal football season at Nippert Stadium as Scott Satterfield honestly falls short of expectations in year one given the talent level he inherited (betting win total closed at five and 5.5 wins).

Costly mistakes and unlucky breaks have taken a 5-6 win team by talent and left them scrapping for a fourth victory this weekend. Still, Satterfield did a nice job building up the talent level at Louisville before Jeff Brohm came in this season and punched an ACC title ticket.

According to CFB Data, Brohm inherited the 23rd-best year-one talent base of any Power Five head coach since 2015. Now, that could be looked at negatively given Satterfield went just 7-5 in his final year at Louisville.
