Scott Satterfield Announces Sammy Anderson Jr. Out For Season With Medical Issue
CINCINNATI — UC football head coach Scott Satterfield made a key announcement during his weekly press conference: Cornerback Sammy Anderson Jr. is out for the year due to medical reasons.
Anderson has played just eight defensive snaps this year due to injury and has made claims on social media that he is healthy, but Satterfield confirmed the medical staff is shutting him down for the remainder of the season.
"Sammy Anderson will be out for the remainder of the season," Satterfield said. "We had a question postgame, but I want to put that out there as well and I know this tough on Sammy. Big time competitor, obviously wants to be out there helping his team. Unfortunately won't be able to do that this season.
"I want to talk a little bit about our medical team and our staff and how they do an outstanding job with our student athletes and I think they have been doing their due diligence going over everything they possibly can to figure this out for Sammy. But unfortunately, he will not be able to continue to play but I appreciate the work that our medical team does, and how they care for our student athletes."
It's unknown what the exact medical reason is for Anderson not playing again this season.
