Scott Satterfield Open to Playing Time Possibilities for Younger Players Following Oklahoma State Loss

Cincinnati turns the page to a UCF team that's 0-5 in conference play.

CINCINNATI — UC football head coach Scott Satterfield dove into quarterback Brady Lichtenberg's performance on Saturday and confirmed younger players like freshman wide receiver Barry Jackson will start seeing more time as the season enters the final four games.

UC dropped a bludgeoning 45-13 against Oklahoma State on Saturday.

"Work to get those players in the right positions," Satterfield said about re-evaluating. "Guys making the plays, need to be out there on the field. And if they're out there on the field and not making the plays, they don't need to be out there on the field. So we got to really evaluate that. Look at that. And if there's some young guys that need to play, we got to put them in and let them play as well."

Cincinnati is searching for answers amidst its longest losing streak this century.

"There in the fourth quarter let's let him go out there and play," Satterfield said about Lichtenberg. "Let's see what he can do. He sparked the guys a little bit. I thought he came out and played well for the most part touchdown pass to AT there in the corner. At that point too in the game there's a lot of drop-eight (coverage), so there wasn't a lot of throwing lanes out there, but I thought he ran hard, played good in a time where we needed to see what he can do. And so we'll go back and look at the film."

Cincinnati got younger players roles in today's game, including Jonathan Thompson. He unfortunately made the start for Dorian Jones because of a death in the family.

UC missed him in the run defense as they look ahead to UCF in a game where names like Barry Jackson (Offense-high 90 PFF grade) figure to start seeing the field.

Maybe trying to play some of these guys that will have time to play," Saterfield confirmed. "Got three games left, more than likely (for young guys to play). Barry Jackson will be one that comes to mind that will get there and let him play for sure."
