UC Safety Ja'Von Hicks Declares for 2023 NFL Draft

The local star had a nice career in Clifton.

CINCINNATI — UC safety Ja'Von Hicks is onto the next level.

The enforcer declared for the 2023 NFL draft on Tuesday.

"Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this amazing university," Hicks said in his goodbye. "Thank you for the cheers, support, and memories over the past five years. The feeling of running out of that tunnel into Nippert Stadium has given me the most unforgettable moments. I will continue to carry the love and support as I embark on my new journey. I am excited for the next chapter in my life and you guys will be truly missed. With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft."

Hicks has played for the team since entering the program in 2018 and appearing in 10 games as a freshman. He used his COVID-year of eligibility to return in 2022 and had a nice season. Hicks finished with 67 tackles, 4 pass breakups, and 3 INTs (t-38th nationally).

That included 7 tackles and a pick in the Fenway Bowl as UC fell 24-7. He made his second All-AAC team of his career this season, landing on the second team.

Hicks is the 611th-ranked player on the consensus big board and the 59th-ranked safety.
