UC's Top Wide Receiver Tyler Scott Opts Out Of Fenway Bowl

Th Bearcats can't be much thinner in terms of pass-catching talent ahead of Saturday's Fenway Bowl.

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati's offense just took another hit ahead of Saturday's Fenway Bowl

Junior wide receiver Tyler Scott announced he is opting out of the game and declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.

"Lastly, Bearcats Nation: You all have played a significant role in our success during my time at UC," Scott wrote in his goodbye. "I will carry the memories that have been made at the Nipp from these past three years with me forever. With that being said, I have decided to opt-out of the bowl game and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. I'm excited to see what God has planned for me in this next chapter. Forever and always, Go Bearcats!"

Scott amazingly scored all 14 of his career TDs from at least 20 yards out and was the Bearcats' best receiver in 2022. He posted 54 catches for 899 yards and 9 TDs. All three numbers led UC pass catchers.

He is the consensus 246th-ranked prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft and is just on the border of getting drafted.

Evan Prater and this passing offense are now in a brutal spot. They have lost their six leading players by receiving yards this season to opt-outs or the transfer portal.

Will Pauling (11 catches, 112 yards) is the only receiver left on the roster that caught double-digit passes in 2022. I expect tight end Chamon Metayer to get a big target diet on Saturday, along with Pauling, and Chris Scott (4 catches, 32 yards).
