Cincinnati AD John Cunningham Comments on 'Possibility' Nippert Stadium Expands

UC's football team hasn't lost at home since 2017.

CINCINNATI — University of Cincinnati athletic director John Cunningham told WCPO that season ticket space at Nippert Stadium is running out and that there's a "possibility" UC expands the venue.

Cunningham said season-ticket deposits are still ongoing for the 2022 season, but that spots are filling up.

“We are getting to a point where we are going to be sold out of our season tickets,” Cunningham said in an interview with WCPO. “We’re still taking deposits at this point, but we’re going to hit pretty soon a point where we’ve got a waiting list, which is a really exciting thing. I don’t know if we’ve ever had a waiting list for Nippert.”

The Bearcats just had the greatest season in program history, going 13-1 and receiving plenty of national recognition along the way. Luke Fickell's team hasn't lost at Nippert Stadium since November 2017.

“It’s fun to go talk to donors right now and have these conversations about how we can continue to grow and how we can make this program special for years to come,” Cunningham said. “We sold out every game but one. So, we’ve got a little bit of a sellout streak going. Let’s continue that for a while, and let’s evaluate where we are in a few years, and certainly, there is a possibility that we will expand Nippert.”

The program is ready to reload with the highest-rated recruiting class in team history and a head coach six wins away from setting the program record for victories.
