Bearcats Offer Hawaii Wide Receiver Nick Mardner

The 6-Foot-6 weapon ranked top 10 nationally in yards per catch.

CINCINNATI — UC added one player from the transfer portal to beef up the kicking game, and they could get an immediate replacement for Alec Pierce. Hawaii wide receiver Nick Mardner announced that UC extended him an offer in the transfer portal.

The Rainbow Warrior is graduating from Hawaii in 2022 before moving on to his next destination. At 6-foot-6, 183 pounds, Mardner does a great job using his long frame. He led Hawaii in receiving yards (913) and touchdowns (five) this season.

Mardner would be a perfect replacement for Pierce who has been a great contested-catch player over the past two years. Of Mardner's 46 catches in 2021, nine were contested. He was ranked as a top ten Canadian prospect in 2018 by allCanadianGridiron.com.

"I'm beyond grateful for the time I spent here, " Mardner wrote on Twitter announcing his entry into the portal last week. "The people I've met and the places I've been are memories that are irreplaceable. I will always call this my second home. To all the braddah's, y'all showed me love from the minute I got here. It has truly been a blessing to cross paths with every single one of you. Thank you to (former UH head coach Nick Rolovich) for believing in me as a (young'un) and giving me an opportunity. Thank you to all Hawaii (coaches) for helping me get to where I am today. Thank you to (receivers) Coach (Marcus) Davis, you as real as a coach can come and I'm beyond grateful for you. This has been a hard decision to make but that being said I am entering the transfer portal with 2 years of eligibility."

The downfield threat is one of the best in the country at creating big passing plays. Mardner is tenth nationally in yards per catch (19.8)—which is just a few spots behind Alabama's Jameson Williams (21.3 YPC). The Canadian was a two-star prospect in 2018, and Virginia Tech is his only other offer since entering the portal.

Cincinnati has a few big-play producers exiting after the College Football Playoff. Getting Mardner to make the 4,440-mile trek from Honolulu to the Queen City would be a major boon for the next era of UC Football.
