Report: Multiple Pac-12 Schools Meeting With Big 12 About Expansion
CINCINNATI — The college football world is still trying to react after USC and UCLA bolted for the Big Ten. According to 247Sports, current Pac-12 members Arizona, Arizona State, Utah, and Colorado are holding discussions Tuesday with the Big 12 about joining the league.
Reporter Jason Scheer noted these would be the most significant discussions between the four schools that—geographically—make the most sense for further Big 12 expansion. Cincinnati is joining the league on July 1, 2023, and could be getting a giant helping of west coast flare soon after.
BYU, Houston, and UCF also join the league on that date. A year after being on the brink of collapse from the Texas/Oklahoma exit, the Big 12 can now operate from a position of strength in these conversations with the four schools.
It's unknown when the four prospective members would join this early in the process, but 2025 could be a sound target after Texas/OU exit and leave the Big 12 with 12 members for the first time in over a decade.
