Recruiting Roundup: Three-Star Edge Rusher Names UC a top School; Recruits Arrive for June Visits

The first weekend of June is a big weekend for visits across college football.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats landed among the top schools of another 2023 recruit on Wednesday in three-star edge rusher Jordan Mayer out of Thomas Jefferson (Pennsylvania).

According to On3 consensus, Mayer is the 1,009th-ranked player nationally and the 77th-ranked edge. He holds 24 offers and has seen his recruitment flip over recent weeks. Wisconsin was a frontrunner in early May, but now West Virginia (33.2%) has the edge followed by Cincinnati (28.3%) and the Badgers (18.8%).

Three other recruits joined the list of official visitors this weekend starting with 2023 offensive tackle Nick Oliveira out of Clearview (New Jersey).

He is not ranked on any databases but does hold 24 offers from schools like Vanderbilt, Boston College, and Penn State. Check out his highlights here.

Joining Oliveira this weekend is three-star 2024 wide receiver Jaylen Watson out of River Rouge (Michigan).

According to On3 consensus, Watson is the 447th-ranked player nationally and the 67th-ranked wide receiver. His top-three projected schools on the site are Cincinnati (38.1%), West Virginia (33.2%), and Maryland (28.6%). Check out his highlights here.

Rounding out the visitor train is fast-rising 2024 tight end Tayvion Galloway out of Chillicothe (Ohio).

According to On3 consensus, Galloway is the 140th-ranked player nationally and the eighth-ranked tight end. He now holds over 20 offers and has a wide-open recruitment projection. On3 has 11 schools with at least a 6.3% chance of signing him. Curiously, Cincinnati (less than 1%) isn't in that group at the top. Check out Galloway's highlights here.
