Colorado Buffaloes Gain Momentum in Big 12 Recruiting Battle for Four-Star Cornerback

In this story:
With the Colorado Buffaloes continuing to recruit on the defensive side, they’ve begun to make some noise in the recruitment of four-star cornerback Kameron Roberson. Roberson has been able to pick up several offers following his junior season, and now has a list of five to consider for his services in 2027.
This list includes Houston, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Colorado, and Kentucky, with official visits to all five schools, in addition to Northwestern, per Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman.

Where Colorado Stands
“Even though they both came late, they have put in a tremendous amount of work to work their way up on my rankings, which has worked. Their actions match their words, and honesty and transparency are important to me in the recruitment process,” said Roberson in an interview with Rivals.
With Colorado coach Deion Sanders, the Buffaloes have done a much better job in the recruitment process, and it seems the results have begun to pay off in the transfer portal as well as high school recruiting.

When it comes to recruiting the younger talent from the high school level, it is critical to be honest about where they stand, which is something that Coach Prime and his staff seemed to have done a great job of.
Continuing to keep up this effort to land Roberson would be great for Sanders and Colorado to add another player to the secondary to ensure there is a great future for that unit against opposing passing attacks.
Cornerback Kameron Roberson’s Fit With Colorado Buffaloes

Robberson also went into some detail about how he fits at Colorado during his conversation with Rivals.
“With Colorado, I mean to help be the best. It helps to be coached by the best. They also play a lot of press man, which correlates to my playing style. Really looking toward to exploring their culture more and becoming more familiar with the whole staff,” Roberson said.
Roberson’s physical play style could be something that fits right into what Colorado wants to do. Throughout the spring, new defensive coordinator Chris Marve has emphasized physicality, speed, and violence to his group, which is something Roberson likes to do. Roberson mentioned press-man coverage as something that fits with his playing style, which is something that could help the Buffaloes tremendously.
With the development of offenses in college football, many teams are forced to play zone, but at times, these zones can be exploited with explosive plays. If Roberson does truly fit well as a man corner, this allows Marve to be aggressive and call man coverage combined with diverse blitz packages to make opposing quarterbacks make tight throws against heavy pressure and tight coverage.

One thing that could give Colorado the advantage in recruiting Roberson is the experience they have on the coaching staff at the NFL level and their success at the college level. Coach Sanders himself is, as many know, a Hall of Fame talent in the NFL as one of the best corners the game has seen. The Buffaloes also have former NFL safety Vonn Bell, who has plenty of NFL experience, including an appearance with the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.
At the college level, offensive coordinator Brennan Marion has helped to develop several future NFL players, including Xavier Worthy and Jordan Addison, who are now succeeding in the NFL. Marion also had a very successful playing career as he made it to the NFL, following great success in college.
Marve also has previous experience in college as a player at Vanderbilt, where he had a very successful career, which led him to become a defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech. Marve looks to learn from his first stint as a defensive coordinator to help his group be one of the better defenses in the Big 12.
While Colorado did not start at the top of Roberson’s list, Sanders and the Buffaloes have done a solid job trying to climb to the top of it to recruit him during his senior season for his college debut in 2027. Roberson’s fit in the physical scheme of Marve’s defense, as well as the coaching experience Colorado brings, could be a deciding factor in getting Roberson in Boulder.
