Four Georgia Tech Commits Are Off to a Great Start To Their Senior Seasons

The high school football season kicked off this past weekend, and Georgia Tech's 2027 class, which ranks among the best in the ACC, began play in their senior season. How did Georgia Tech commits look in some of the games? Let’s take a closer look.

Hot Start for 2027 Commits

WR Antwan Lockett- Despite a tough loss on the road to the defending state champion Thomas County Central, Lockett made an impact. To be honest, the offense was in a better rhythm when he got the ball. A good example was in the third quarter when the Packets featured Lockett on a drive and went to him exclusively. It was for three consecutive plays, and before you knew it had gotten into opponent territory. Lockett finished off the drive with a touchdown reception. Lockett made big plays all night on the outside and has great speed, quickness, and route running to make a defense pay. Yellow Jackets fans should be happy about landing him.

OL Joshua Sam-Epelle- Despite the double OT loss to Newton on Saturday night, the offense had it going and finished with 303 yards of total offense. The offense helped pave the way for a good rushing performance, which garnered 157 yards and 6.8 yards per carry. Justin Spivey led the way for Douglas County with five carries for 74 yards. Sam-Epelle was a big factor in spearheading the Tigers' run game and opening up lanes. Sam-Epelle is a physical offensive lineman who is very stout and sound and will bring that presence to the Flats in December.

DL Justin Weeks- The edge rusher made some plays in the backfield and was good in his pursuit against one of the best running backs in the nation. Kevin Hartsfield is the consensus No.1 running back in the 2028 class. While he did rush for 200 yards, the Tigers forced a fumble and bottled him up in the first half. Week was big in that he maintained his gap discipline and forced plays on the inside. The three-star pass rusher should only get better as the season goes on.

Cole Crawford- In a 48-0 win over Hiram, Crawford finished with seven tackles, three QB hurries, and a tackle for loss. It was a solid season opener for the Yellow Jackets commit who is known for being all-around the ball and making plays consistently. He is the type of linebacker that you can line up anywhere, and he will make plays consistently and bring down ball carriers. His IQ makes him better than a lot of players, and the way he strikes and comes downhill makes him even tougher to deal with.
