Nation's Top-Ranked Long Snapper Alan Soukup Commits to Indiana

Indiana landed the nation's No. 1 long snapper, Alan Soukup, bringing Tom Allen's 2024 recruiting class to 13 players.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Alan Soukup, the No. 1 ranked long snapper by Kohl's Kicking, announced his commitment to Indiana on Wednesday.

Indiana's 2024 recruiting class is now up to 13 players, with commitments coming in three consecutive days.

A scouting report from the Kohl's Kicking website shared insight on Soukup.

"Soukup is an absolute stud in the 2024 class. He has super long levers and extremely fast hands. Soukup recently competed against the best snappers in his class at the Kohl’s Underclassman Challenge and was extremely impressive. He finished the charting portion of camp with an average snap time of .66 seconds. Soukup followed his solid charting performance by winning the camp wide snapping competition. He already has the talent and athleticism to start at the Power 5 level."

Soukup attends Pinnacle High School in Phoenix, Ariz., where he also plays tight end, wide receiver and basketball. He stands at 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds.

Soukup received a scholarship offer from Indiana on June 20, and he picked the Hoosiers over an offer from USC. He also visited Arizona, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

When he arrives in Bloomington, Soukup will likely succeed current Indiana long snapper Sean Wracher, who was named a preseason fourth-team All-American by Phil Steele. Under Indiana special teams coordinator Kasey Teegardin, Wracher has been a mainstay at long-snapper for the Hoosiers. He has started all 45 games since the beginning of the 2019 season, earning All-Big Ten honors from Steele in each of the last four seasons.
