In this story:

Michigan starting point guard Elliot Cadeau had a bit of a scare on Wednesday as the team was about to depart for Indianapolis. A member of Michigan's basketball team was seen exiting the building with an ambulance, which we later found out it was Cadeau.

While it was an unfortunate event for Cadeau, he is now back with his team in Indianapolis. On Thursday, during media availability, Cadeau confirmed he is allergic to nuts and that he ate something with cashew nuts in it.

"I just had a little bit of hives, so that's why I went to the hospital, just to prevent anything further from happening," he said.

Speaking to the media, as well, head coach Dusty May also confirmed Cadeau is fine.

"Very unfortunate for him to have to go through that," May said on Thursday. "If it's the worst thing that happens to us, then we're very blessed. It also just shows him how much he means to his teammates. They were very concerned, obviously, like we all would be for a reaction like that.

"But just grateful that he's fine. We have great medical care, and he's back with us. Dude is a warrior. He'll be fine."

Cadeau's impact for Michigan

It was clear from the start that Michigan wanted Cadeau on this roster. Tre Donaldson, last year's starting point guard, entered the transfer portal, and the Wolverines landed Cadeau almost immediately.

He has shined under Dusty May, averaging a career high 10.2 points. He has dished out 5.8 assists per game, and has also shot a career high from three, averaging over 37% from long range. Coming to Michigan, Cadeau wasn't known for his three-point shooting, but he has developed into a consistent shooter for the Maize and Blue.

Starting every game for Michigan, Cadeau's role has only grown in the recent months, following a torn ACL from backup point guard LJ Cason. While Trey McKenney has taken on Cason's role, McKenney isn't exactly a point guard, so Cadeau has had to play longer minutes and has needed the ability to stay out of foul trouble.

Thus far, Cadeau has managed to do so. He has been a vital part of this Michigan team and the Wolverines are going to need another strong outing from him come Saturday night against Arizona. The winner of the game will play either UConn or Illinois for a chance at a national title.
