Michigan Football rises in recruiting rankings after two key additions

After sitting outside of the Top 50 for several weeks, the Michigan Wolverines saw a boost in their 2026 recruiting rankings over the weekend.
The biggest splash came when four-star QB Brady Smigiel committed to the Wolverines on Saturday. The 6-5, 205-pound gunslinger is rated as the No. 8 QB prospect in the nation and is the highest rated commitment in Michigan's 2026 class to this point, according to 247Sports

Following Smigiel's commitment, the Wolverines received their second commitment on Saturday from three-star EDGE Tariq Boney. The 6-2, 230-pound edge rusher is ranked as the No. 5 overall recruit from Washington DC and the No. 81 ranked EDGE in the country.

Adding two commitments to the 2026 class moved Michigan from outside of the top 50 to inside the top 40 according to 247Sports latest rankings. Here's the latest look at where the Wolverines rank both nationally and within the conference in the three major recruiting services.
