Michigan State football continues to make moves in the 2024 recruiting cycle this week, as the Spartans just executed a flip on the trail.

Three-star Cleveland (Ohio) Midpark wide receiver Austin Clay is the latest to join MSU's class after flipping his commitment from Bowling Green on Monday afternoon.

Clay originally committed to the Falcons on June 30, but drew a scholarship offer from Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins on December 11. After taking an official visit to East Lansing this past weekend, the speedy 6-foot-1, 165-pounder was ready to become a Spartan.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Clay is considered the No. 1739 overall prospect, No. 207 wide receiver and No. 74 player from the state of Ohio in the class of 2024. In addition to Michigan State and Bowling Green, he had offers from Navy, Ball State, Massachusetts, Akron and Penn.

Over the past six days, Michigan State has now landed six verbal pledges from the 2024 class, as head coach Jonathan Smith and the staff attempt to salvage what they can of the current recruiting cycle ahead of National Signing Day on Wednesday. Clay joins three-star running backs Mahki Frazier and Brandon Tullis, three-star tight end Wyatt Hook, three-star athlete Andrew Brinson IV and three-star quarterback Alessio Milivojevic. MSU flipped Milivojevic from Ball State, while the other four prospects were committed to Oregon State prior to the coaching change.

Prior to this string of pledges, the Spartans' 2024 class had shrunk to just seven commitments and the class ranked in the 100s nationally. With the addition of Clay, MSU's class is now up to 13 commitments ranks No. 63 in the country according to 247Sports' team rankings.
